Our Visit To The Miraculous Mother Mary In Simala, Cebu, Philippines

What made me decide? My family told me the story about the sacred place where the Marian Monks lived and the miracle of Mama Mary!

Simala, Cebu, and saw the home video with the image of "Sr. Sto. Nino (baby Jesus)" visited and appeared passing by the front of the Mother Mary's glass cover! Early this morning, the whole family and relatives went out to visit the renowned "Miraculous Mama Mary" located in Simala, Sibonga, Cebu, Philippines. For the past few days I haven't been feeling well due to change of weather and climate. I felt really sick and just want to lay in bed! I decided to get up and eager to see the "Miraculous Mama Mary". As soon as I saw the church, I can feel the peace of mind and felt lightened up! The place is so sacred! I went inside the church to see the shrine of "Mama Mary" and fall in line so I can touch her, can really pray without distractions. I saw pictures and some letters from the people who experienced the miracle and healed their illnesses, pictures of the Philippine President, other famous people who visited and made donations. The shrine became “famous” after word spread that the image of the Virgin Mary was seen “shedding tears of blood,” a phenomenon that lacks scientific or official church validation but nevertheless draws more people to the area. The Marian monks who maintain the shrine have also landscaped the area, which has a mini falls that cascades down a small pool and well-tended gardens. Signboards warn people that picking the flowers would be like “stealing from Mother Mary”. Families can have picnics and meals in cottages built for visitors. Adults and Childrens like to throw coins in a wishing well which features a large bell. Those who grumble about the distance are quickly shamed by the sight of elderly men and women on wheelchairs and crutches who go there to hear Mass and line up to kiss the image of Mary. These senior citizens don veils on their heads while praying, the same one Mother Mary wore when she “shed tears of blood. My experience at Simala, is an unexplainable feeling and it's a place where you can have a peace of mind!

No place is too far to visit for a miracle. People whose only hope to cure their sickness is miracle, are always in search for instruments of God’s miraculous grace.

DJ (Drummer) Is Injured In South Carolina Plane Crash And 4 Killed

The wreckage of a Learjet that was carrying former Blink 182 drummer Travis Barker, Adam Goldstein, also known as DJ AM, and four others rests on an embankment along Highway 302, along the outskirts of the Columbia Metropolitan Airport, Saturday, Sept. 20, 2008, in Columbia, S.C. Barker and Goldstein were critically injured; two other passengers and two crew members were killed. (AP Photo/Brett Flashnick)

Hours after performing for thousands of South Carolina college students, former Blink-182 drummer Travis Barker and celebrity DJ AM were critically injured in a fiery Learjet crash that killed four people, authorities said Saturday. Officials said the plane carrying six people was departing shortly before midnight Friday when air traffic controllers reporting seeing sparks. The plane hurtled off the end of a runway and crashed through antennas and a fence. It came to rest on an embankment across a five lane highway and was engulfed in flames, said Debbie Hersman, a member of the National Transportation Safety Board. Barker and DJ AM, whose real name is Adam Goldstein, were in critical condition at a burn center in Augusta, Ga., about 75 miles southwest of Columbia, hospital spokeswoman Beth Frits said. Two other passengers: Chris Baker, 29, of Studio City, Calif., and Charles Still, 25, of Los Angeles died, as did pilot Sarah Lemmon, 31, of Anaheim Hills, Calif., and co-pilot James Bland, 52, of Carlsbad, according to the county coroner. Baker was an assistant to Barker and Still was a security guard for the musician. The plane was headed for Van Nuys, Calif. It is owned by Global Exec Aviation, a California-based charter company, and was certified to operate last year, Hersman said. The company said it had no immediate comment. At the crash site Saturday, the air was still heavy with the odor of jet fuel. A trail of black soot led off a runway. The nose of the aircraft was gone and the roof was missing from two-thirds of the charred plane. Barker and Goldstein had performed together under the name TRVSDJ-AM at a free concert in Columbia on Friday night. Event sponsor T-Mobile said their hourlong set ended at about 7:15 p.m. The show, which included performances by former Jane's Addiction singer Perry Farrell and singer Gavin DeGraw, drew 10,000 people into the streets of Five Points, the neighborhood near the University of South Carolina, Coble said. Peter Kastis, Farrell's manager, said he and Farrell didn't find out about the crash until they arrived at the airport Saturday morning to find it closed.

Natalie Cole Is Suffering From Hepatitis C, A Liver Disease

Natalie Cole, who recently revealed she had hepatitis C, has been hospitalized as a result of side effects from her medication and a heavy promotional schedule, her representative said Friday. The Grammy-winning singer has been in a New York City hospital since Sept. 12, and is expected to remain there for at least a few days, according to publicist Maureen O'Connor of the firm Rogers & Cowan. Natalie announced in July that she was suffering from hepatitis C, a liver disease spread through contact with infected blood. She said at the time that the disease was revealed during a routine examination and was likely caused by her drug use years ago. Natalie had been responding well to treatment, but blamed the medicine she has been taking and a busy publicity schedule to promote her new album, "Still Unforgettable," with causing her problems. Natalie had taped several TV appearances and had appeared live on NBC's "Today" show on Sept. 11, a day before her hospitalization.

Natalie is expected to be in the hospital for a few more days and then will return to her home in Los Angeles, where she will be on bedrest.

Best Domestic Taste For The Great American Seafood Cook-Off

Out of the five final dishes, I chose the TEXAS GULF SHRIMP By: Chef Mark Holley of Texas. I believe this would be a great contender recipe, for the cook off because of the simplicity of the preparation. The Louisiana Seafood Promotion & Marketing Board (LSPMB) and NOAA (National Oceanic and Atmospheric Association) present their Annual Great American Seafood Cook-Off to be held in New Orleans. This event is very exciting and challenging to all the chefs who would want to establish a reputation of their culinary training. When the five finalists of the 2008 Great American Seafood Cook-Off were named they were given several challenges in creating their dish for the final round of competition. First, the dishes had to contain one of two mystery ingredients, either Southwest Airline Peanuts or select brews from Michelob Brewing Co. Next, keeping it healthy and simple, the dish’s ingredients had to represent all five food groups and be a dish that even the most harried home chefs could prepare.

Try this at home by improvising your talent in cooking and you will find it very tasty! This recipe will be part of your dishes!

Crime Just Never Stops Paying For Guy Ritchie

Writer and director Guy Ritchie attends a screening of the film "RocknRolla" during the Toronto International Film Festival on Thursday, Sept. 4, 2008 in Toronto. (AP Photo/Evan Agostini)

With "RocknRolla," writer/director Guy Ritchie returns to the sort of gangster tale that shot him to fame with "Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels" and "Snatch," presenting a big, boisterous ensemble of lovable low-lifes doing anything they can to score a buck or rub out an enemy. While Guy stumbled with his last two flicks the romantic remake "Swept Away" starring his wife, Madonna, and the gambling thriller "Revolver". "RocknRolla" has the kind of manic energy that made audiences fall for the rogues of his earlier films. Guy, who turns 40 on Wednesday, was promoting "RocknRolla" in North America while wife Madonna continued her concert tour in Europe. Though the two are apart, Guy was quick to dismiss rumors that the relationship was on the rocks. As far as I'm concern, they seem to be fine!

An Italian Tenor Luciano Pavarotti To Be Remembered Around The World

The world will mark the first anniversary of the death of Luciano Pavarotti with a series of concerts, an exhibit and other events, organizers and his family announced Friday. Among the tributes planned for the celebrated tenor, who died Sept. 6, 2007, are a concert at New York's Metropolitan Opera House on Sept. 18, and an exhibit on his life, with photographs, films and costumes collected by friends and colleagues, that opens in Rome on Oct. 17. Another concert in Petra, Jordan, is scheduled for Oct. 12, while conductor Leone Magiera, who worked with Pavarotti for years, is reportedly planning a tribute concert in Paris on Jan. 27.

The events were announced at a meeting at the culture ministry in Rome that included Pavarotti's widow, Nicoletta Mantovani, and the tenor's longtime friend, Italian film and opera director Franco Zeffirelli. Pavarotti died at age 71 after a yearlong battle with cancer. He had married Mantovani in 2003 and they had a daughter. He also had three daughters from a previous marriage. Pavarotti's charismatic persona, ebullient showmanship, and powerful voice made him the most beloved and celebrated tenor since the great Caruso, and one of the few opera singers to win crossover fame as a popular superstar.

An Upcoming Concert By Paul McCartney In Israel

In this May 24, 2003, former Beatle Sir Paul McCartney performs during his concert in Red Square in Moscow. An upcoming concert by Paul McCartney in Israel, scheduled for Sept. 25, 2008, has revived memories of the 1960s, when an Israeli official called off a Beatles concert for fear it would corrupt the nation's youth. The episode is often fondly quoted as a relic of a long-lost Israel where the public's innocence needed protecting. (AP Photo/Ivan Sekretarev)

An upcoming concert by Paul McCartney has revived memories of the 1960s, when an Israeli official supposedly called off a Beatles concert for fear it would corrupt the nation's youth. The episode is often fondly quoted as a relic of a long lost Israel where the public's innocence needed protecting. Trouble is, the story might not be true! With Israelis in a tizzy about McCartney's arrival, the official's son is taking the opportunity to try to clear his father's name, calling the tale a "Zionist urban legend." So pervasive is the story of the concert's cancellation 43 years ago that this year Israel's ambassador in London wrote a letter expressing regret over the matter to surviving members of the band. He told them the country would like to make it up to them, to come play during this year's celebrations marking Israel's 60th anniversary. Even before Paul McCartney announced the show, tickets went on sale at prices ranging from $140 to $430. The Israeli official blamed for canceling the 1965 concert was Yaakov Sarid, a stern-faced man in horn-rimmed glasses who was the Education Ministry's director.

A Mandatory Evacuation Order And Curfew Remained In Effect

Water fills a low area near the Eastside of the Industrial Canal as Hurricane Gustav came through afternoon Sept. 1, 2008, in New Orleans. (AP Photo/Brian Lawdermilk)

New Orleans evacuees scattered across the country were eager to return home after their city was largely spared by Hurricane Gustav, but Mayor Ray Nagin warned they may have to wait in shelters and motels a few days longer. The city's improved levee system helped avert a disaster like Hurricane Katrina, which flooded most of the city, and officials got an assist from a disorganized and weakened Gustav, which came ashore about 72 miles southwest of the city Monday morning. Eight deaths were attributed to the storm in the U.S. after it killed at least 94 people across the Caribbean. But New Orleans was still a city that took a glancing blow from a hurricane! A mandatory evacuation order and curfew remained in effect. And though few people were left in the city, nearly 80,000 homes remained without power after the storm damaged transmission lines that snapped like rubber bands in the wind and knocked 35 substations out of service. The city's sewer system was damaged, and hospitals were working with skeleton crews on backup power. Drinking water continued to flow in the city and the pumps that keep it dry never shut down, two critical service failings that contributed to Katrina's toll. Gustav was downgraded to a tropical depression early Tuesday, the National Hurricane Center in Miami said. At 5 a.m. EDT, the storm's maximum sustained winds had decreased to near 35 mph, but forecasters issued flood warnings for northern Louisiana and East Texas, where up to 8 inches of rain was expected. The storm's center was located about 135 miles northwest of Lafayette and was moving northwest at about 10 mph.
